In this talk, we will introduce the use of online judge, an automated grading platform that we have developed.  The platform is used to grade computer codes written by our students.  It is already tested in used by our freshman engineering students in their Engineering Principles and Practice module.  The modules seeks to teach the students to use Python, R and Cplex.  Motivation is to teach them to manipulate and analyze data.
We will demonstrate how the online judge is used in this class and share our experience in how to use it to maximize student learning.  At the same time, the other activities that are used to complement the online judge so that learning is enhanced will be discussed. 

Biography
Chee Meng YAP is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at National University of Singapore.   He received his B.Eng (Civil Engineering) degree with first Class Honours from the National University of Singapore in 1987 and his M.S and PhD degrees in 1989 and 1992 from the University of Pittsburgh. His interest in area of finance has seen him obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2003 and a Master of Professional Accounting from Singapore Management University in 2015.  He had served as a reviewer for Journal of Product Innovation.  He has also served as an Associate Dean at the Faculty of Engineering, NUS, from 2010 to 2014, as well as Deputy Head of the Department for more than 10 years before stepping down this year.  His research focuses on the financial valuation and has consulting experience in valuation issues.  He now spends time developing pedagogical materials to enhance student learning.
